Rome Statute   Madagascar signed on 18 July 1998 and ratified on 14 March 2008. In April 2007, the Constitution had been amended by referendum to bring it in conformity with the Rome Statute. A previous ruling by the High Constitutional Court that the ratification of the Rome Statute by Madagascar would be unconstitutional triggered the amendment. With the new Constitution, the ratification of the Rome Statute is expressly authorized by article 131. During the Sixth ASP, the government of Madagascar formally stated that the ratification of the Rome Statute would be completed in the near future.
Agreement on Privileges and Immunities Madagascar signed the APIC on 12 September 2002.
Bilateral Immunity Agreement BIA signed on April 23, 2003.
Implementing Legislation Presently, the government is in the process of gathering information and expertise that would help to complete the implementation process. The government is open to implementation of the RS and working with civil society groups throughout the process.
