Rome Statute   Uganda signed on 17 March 1999, and ratified on 14 June 2002, becoming the 68th State Party. In September 2008, The Uganda Coalition for the ICC in collaboration with the CICC and the Legal & Parliamentary Affairs Committee organized a stakeholders meeting to sensitize parliamentarians on the ICC and the need to pass the bill rapidly.
Agreement on Privileges and Immunities Uganda ratified the APIC on 21 January 2009.
Bilateral Immunity Agreement BIA signed June 12, 2003.
Implementing Legislation On 10 March 2010, the Ugandan Parliament passed the International Criminal Court Bill, 2006, three years after it was tabled. The Bill makes provision in Uganda’s law for the punishment of the international crimes of genocide, crime against humanity and war crimes. The suspects tried and convicted for the crimes will be liable to life imprisonment.
The Bill is also intended to enable cooperation with the ICC in the performance of its functions, including the investigation and prosecution of persons accused of having committed crimes referred to in the Rome Statute. It further provides for the arrest and surrender to the ICC of persons alleged to have committed crimes against humanity in addition to enabling the ICC to conduct proceedings in Uganda.
