Costa Rica signed on 7 October 1998 and ratified on 7 June 2001, becoming the 33rd State Party.
Agreement on Privileges and Immunities
Costa Rica ratified the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities on 28 April 2011.

Implementing Legislation
In May 2003 Costa Rica enacted an amendment to the Criminal Code (Law 8272), including an article that refers to those crimes contained in international treaties that Costa Rica has ratified, including the Rome Statute. Currently a bill to include war crimes in the Criminal Code is pending in Congress to be discussed at the respective Commissions. The Bill includes all crimes under the RS as well as complementarity provisions.
