The UN World Summit opened in the General Assembly Hall on 14 September 2005. The UN has played a key role in the establishment of the ICC and effective cooperation between the UN and the ICC remains essential. Credit: UN / Paulo Filgueiras.
The 55th session of the General Assembly opened in September 2000. During this session, in addition to the resolution on the ICC, the General Assembly adopted four resolutions with reference to the ICC:
- on the Rights of the Child;
- on the Safety and Security of Humanitarian Personnel and Protection of United Nations Personnel;
- on Trafficking in Women and Girls; and
- on Extrajudicial, Summary, or Arbitrary Executions.
