56th Session - 2001-02

The UN World Summit opened in the General Assembly Hall on 14 September 2005. The UN has played a key role in the establishment of the ICC and effective cooperation between the UN and the ICC remains essential. Credit: UN / Paulo Filgueiras.

The 56th session of the General Assembly opened in September 2001. During this session, in addition to the resolution on the ICC, the General Assembly adopted a resolution on the Safety and Security of Humanitarian Personnel and Protection of United Nations Personnel with reference to the ICC.
