On 8 November 2005, the President of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Judge Philippe Kirsch, presented the first-ever report of the ICC to the United Nations General Assembly. Judge Kirsch addressed the General Assembly about the Court’s activities and planning to date. The General Assembly adopted a resolution on the ICC on 23 November 2005, one of the strongest in years. This resolution was adopted by consensus with only the United States government expressing a reservation.

During its 60th session, in addition to the resolution on the ICC, the General Assembly adopted 5 resolutions with reference to the ICC:
- on the Rights of the Child;
- on the Safety and Security of Humanitarian Personnel and Protection of United Nations Personnel;
- on the Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo;
- on the Basic Principles and Guidelines on the Rights to a Remedy and Reparations for Victims of Gross Violations of International Human Rights Law and Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law; and

- on Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of punishment.
