Ms. Hina Jilani
Ms. Hina Jilani is an Advocate at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. She served eight years as the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders, and she was appointed a member of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur and the UN Human Rights Council Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict. Ms. Jilani is a founder of the first all-female legal practice and the first free legal aid center in Pakistan, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and the Women's Action Forum respectively. She is also a member of the Eminent Jurists Panel on Terrorism, Counter-terrorism, and Human Rights. She has received the Human Rights Award by the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights, the Amnesty International Genetta Sagan Award for Women’s Rights, the Millennium Peace Prize for Women, and the International Human Rights Lawyer Award of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law.
