Updates on Gabon
31 Dec 2005
Gabon ratified on 20 September 2000, becoming the 21st State Party.

At a meeting on the ICC organized by the Center for Criminal Reform and Criminal Justice Policy in collaboration with the Gabon Government in March 2003, key officials of the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, judges, members of Parliament and NGOs proposed that the government create a national committee on draft implementing legislation.

The delegate from Gabon at the 6th Committee of the 57th UN General Assembly, indicated that Gabon has begun the process of reform of its criminal code and procedural code, in order to integrate the crimes under the Rome Statute into national law. (15 October 2002)

The government has requested technical assistance with regard to implementation of the Rome Statute.
