On 25 February 2004, an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that instructions had been given to the UN Mission to sign the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the Court (APIC). Ratification was expected to follow soon.

In April 2003, the President signed the instrument of ratification of the Rome Statute.

The National Assembly approved the ratification bill on 13 November 2002.

An inter-ministerial committee was set up in September 2001 to draft a ratification bill and identify the national laws that will need to be amended when Guinea ratifies.
