Updates on Hungary
31 Dec 2005
Hungary ratified on 30 November 2001, becoming the 47th State Party.
The Parliament approved the ICC ratification bill on 6 November 2001. The ratification procedure was completed with the signature of the President and subsequent deposit of the instrument at UN Headquarters. The ratification bill and cooperation legislation was drafted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice. An advisory committee of legal experts from relevant ministries was created to determine whether a constitutional amendment was needed. In principle, no constitutional obstacle to ratification existed, although the issues of extradition and immunity were discussed. |
