On 2 November 2004, the Parliament approved ratification of the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the Court.

The Parliament adopted three legislative acts: the new Criminal Code, Code of Criminal Proceeding and the Code on Execution of Penalties, which entered into force on 1 May 2003.

By means of an amendment to the Criminal Code, the Lithuanian Parliament provided for criminal responsibility for war crimes, thereby implementing the relevant portion of the Geneva Conventions.

The crime of genocide was incorporated into the Criminal Code by means of an amendment adopted on 21 April 1998.
