Mauritius ratified on 5 March 2002, becoming the 53rd State Party.

The government has now begun the process of drafting implementation legislation, and has requested technical assistance.

The domestic process of ratification was approved by the Executive branch. The ICC implementing legislation proceeded with parliamentary approval.

To assist SADC Member States in enacting legislation, a Southern African Development Community meeting held in Pretoria, South Africa, 5-9 July 1999 adopted a model-enabling-law that each state could adapt to their national situations. This model law covers virtually all aspects of the ICC Statute that require state action and cooperation.
