Implementation law enters into force on 7 March 2008

The Criminal Code 2005 Chapter 16 on genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes was adopted in February 2008 and entered into force 7 March 2008. The new provisions are based on the definitions in the Rome Statute and the elements of crimes, but goes further in that it also includes crimes considered as war crimes under international customary law that are not included in the Rome Statute.
