CICC and the Centro Nicaragüense de Derechos Humanos conduct a joint mission to San Salvador to strengthen understanding on the Rome Statute

In late April Francesca Varda, CICC Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean, Wilfredo Medrano, president of the El Salvador Coalition for the ICC and Norwin Solano, a lawyer from the Centro Nicaraguense de Derechos Humanos conducted a joint mission to San Salvador to counteract pervasive misinformation regarding the Rome Statute, and in particular, to understand the question of whether a constitutional amendment is needed or not.

The mission also allowed the delegation to reiterate their call for more robust and strengthened support from Central American countries, including Nicaragua, to the ICC. CENIDH will continue efforts nationally calling for accession to the treaty and a future CICC Secretariat mission is expected later in 2008.
