Angola committed to ratify the Rome Statute, as part of its voluntary pledges to promote human rights, in the context of its candidature to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2007-2010.

Angola is in the process of drafting a new penal code. The draft penal code includes crimes of the Rome Statute.
