Updates on Syria
31 Dec 2005
Although the Syrian Arab Republic had indicated that it would wait until the crime of aggression was defined before deciding its position on the ICC, it signed the Statute during the Sixth session of the Preparatory Commission.
At the Sixth Committee meeting of the 54th General Assembly (fall 1999), the Syrian representative said that his country looked forward to a Court that would be permanent and completely independent. The pending definition of the crime of aggression continues to be Syria's main concern regarding ratification of the ICC. |
