Updates on Trinidad and Tobago
01 June 2006
In May 2006, former Trinidad and Tobago President Arthur N.R. Robinson was elected to represent the Latin American and Caribbean countries as a Board Member of the ICC Trust Fund for Victims

On February 24th, 2006 Trinidad and Tobago became the first country in the Caribbean to fully enact ICC implementing legislation and fulfill their obligations under the Rome Statute. This important step follows a long process whereby the Bill was stalled in Cabinet for about two years.

Trinidad and Tobago has historically been a vital contributor in the establishment of the Court. In 1989, Trinidad & Tobago lead by then Prime Minister Arthur N.R. Robinson proposed to the 44th General Assembly a new agenda item on the establishment of the Court, which consequently led to the groundbreaking resolution calling for the creation of the ICC.
