Updates on United Kingdom
31 Dec 2005
United Kingdom ratified on 4 October 2001, becoming the 42nd State Party.

The ICC Act 2001, allowing ratification, incorporated into domestic law the offences in the Rome Statute and made provisions for them to be dealt with domestically in the Crown Court. Furthermore, the Act contained provisions for the arrest and surrender of persons in the UK charged by the ICC as well as for serving the custodial sentences in the UK, if convicted by the Court.

The ratification bill for Scotland, part of the ratification package for the United Kingdom, was adopted by the Scotish Parliament on 13 September 2001. This allowed the United Kingdom to complete the ratification process.
