In January 2004, Algeria�s Minister of Justice, together with representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Sana�a Inter-Governmental Regional Conference on Democracy, Human Rights and Role of the International Criminal Court

It has been reported that the issue of terrorism is impeding Algeria�s ratification.

A working group formed by experts from the Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs has been in charge of examining the ICC Statute since 1999. Sources had previously indicated that potential constitutional barriers may hinder ratification of the Rome Statute.
